How we talk about bullying after school shootings can be dangerous: experts (Newsweek. February 2018)
Spoke with psychologists and school shooting experts — including “Columbine” author Dave Cullen — about how jumping to assumptions of bullying after a tragedy not only risks deepening stigma, but can also simplify the situation’s complexity.

Part IV of a four month-long, seven-part series. Interviewed about 30 sources for the project, which detailed the ways sexual assault survivors suffer lingering trauma on the University of Maryland campus. Also collaborated with survivors and The Diamondback’s photo editor on corresponding photo gallery (embedded in story).

Took a close-up of a local deteriorating mall. Reporting entailed retrieving property and foreclosure documents from the clerk’s office and self-counting the mall’s empty storefronts after management cut off communication.
